headspace Liverpool provides mild to moderate mental health services to young people aged 12-25.

headspace Liverpool is operated by The Benevolent Society. All headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, South Western Sydney (South Western Sydney PHN).
Services
Nutrition screening, dietary assessment and education about food and lifestyle, also support around healthy eating strategies.
GPs can help with any physical health issues as well as issues related to sexual health, drug or alcohol use, relationship problems or feeling down or upset. Your centre may have a GP on site or links to one locally.
Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with any alcohol or other drug concern.
A group of young people who help with events and some decision making at a centre. Ask your centre about getting involved.
Mental health workers – which may include psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors and other workers – that can help if you're just not feeling yourself.
Sexual health screenings on site or links to local services.
Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with work or study opportunities.
Centres have a range of programs and activities for young people. Just ask your centre what they have on.

Your new role:
As a Youth Access Practitioner at Headspace Liverpool, you’ll create a safe and welcoming environment for young people. You will provide assessment, counselling, therapeutic group work and referral services. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively to ensure client treatment and care plans are effective and appropriate.
Terms: Max Term Full Time 11 month Contract based in Liverpool, NSW.

What you need to succeed?
- Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, counselling, nursing or related fields.
- Solid understanding of Youth Mental Health issues such as Anxiety and Depression, Substance Abuse, Early Psychosis, Self harm and Family Based Interventions
- Experience conducting assessments and providing psychological interventions, counselling or group work and engaging with families and friends
- Great people skills and the capacity to engaged with people from all walks of life
- A natural team player with the ability to balance competing priorities and work independently

All of headspace Liverpool services are free - but for some services you need a Medicare card.

If you are ineligible to apply for a Medicare Card give us a call and we will direct you to alternative appropriate services for you
All services at headspace Liverpool are free of charge.
Our Centre has a number of health providers who work under the Medicare system which means that to see our GP and Pyschologists we need your Medicare card.
All visits to the GP are bulk billed and up 10 sessions per calendar year with a Psychologist can also be bulk billed under Medicare.
headspace Liverpool is located on Level 1, 50 Macquarie Street North, Liverpool, NSW, 2170. We are just a short walk or bus ride away from Liverpool station and Warwick Farm station.
Parking at headspace Liverpool can be tricky. There is some street parking available, metered parking directly across the road at the memorial park or we are a 300m walk from Liverpool Westfield where parking is free for the first 3 hours.
We share our building with a number of different organizations so it might help to look out for signs for Red Cross, Kirana and NAB. Once you reach our address, head up the stairs and turn left where you will then be greeted by our friendly receptionist.

What is the headspace Liverpool Youth Reference Group?
headspace Liverpool Youth Reference Group is the link between the service and the community. It is a volunteer based team working on promoting youth mental health through community events such as: -
- Information stalls
- Workshops at schools and community centers
- Parent/ Teacher Question and Answer sessions
- Interactive activities
As a member of the headspace Liverpool Youth Reference Group you will
- Collaborate with other young people to plan, run and evaluate events and activities for young people in the Liverpool and Fairfield area.
- Work on specific projects within our local community.
- Provide feedback and advice about our service and how we can improve our service.
- Help to promote headspace Liverpool and important youth issues in the local area.
By getting involved you will have the opportunity to;
- Have your say on important issues and influence how headspace Liverpool works
- Learn new skills, experience new things and build self confidence
- Meet and work with other young people who are passionate about youth mental health
- Receive training on headspace Liverpool and its structure.
Who can join?
The headspace Liverpool Youth Reference Group is open to anyone aged 16 – 25 who is passionate about mental health issues. You may have had your own experience, seen a friend or family member struggle, or simply be passionate about making a difference for young people in your community.

At headspace Liverpool we can provide a range of different presentations and or workshops to school students, teachers, parents, carers, local community groups and organisations.
headspace Liverpool would like to ensure, that as a service we are meeting the needs of schools in the area as well as promoting a whole school approach to mental health. We can deliver one off general presentations or small group workshops.
Our workshops are of a general nature and have a health promotion and education focus. We deliver these workshops to promote positive mental health and well being and encourage young people to do the same. If you would like information on a specific medical or therapeutic focus please inform us on the form.
Some of the topics headspace Liverpool can deliver workshops on include: -

If you would like us to present a topic at your school, community group or organisation, please note that we require a minimum of four weeks notice for any request and we would appreciate a few options for dates and times.

headspace Liverpool provides a range of specialist services, these services include:-
- General Practitioners who are available Tuesday, Wednesday afternoon and Thursday. The service is bulk billed. Please bring your Medicare card to the appointment.
- Accredited mental health nurse, who are available on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Free legal advice from Marrickville Legal Centre, available every second Monday
- Drug and Alcohol specific counselling through the program headfyrst.
- Specific support for young people with cancer and family members with cancer through Canteen.
- Psychologists.
