Work Wellness Shout Out

By Connie Ruffo

Eloise has been part of the Work Wellness program since July 2017. During this time, she has set goals and continues to smash them!

Work Wellness is a program that supports young people who have barriers to employment or education because of their mental health. Young people get one to one support from a Vocational Specialist at headspace Albany as well as their mental health support from headspace Albany counsellors, GPs and care coordinators.

Eloise has been working at Coles where she started out cleaning the chicken ovens, which she didn’t love but persevered! Eloise now works in the fresh produce section, which she loves! Her hours have increased due to COVID-19 and has seen Eloise tackle an ever-changing role. She has done this with resilience and an awesome attitude.

Her ultimate goal is to run her own wildlife sanctuary and be WA’s version of Bindi Irwin. She has completed a Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management and is currently studying Zoology.

Eloise also runs her own small business, Reptile Wrangler & Relocator, having completed the necessary snake handling courses.  She is very passionate about her scaly friends, Game of Thrones and her bearded dragon is named Daenerys.

Eloise continues to engage in headspace Albany and has been an active participant in groups. She is an amazing young person and I am super proud to be a part of her journey – she has taught me the importance of having a “glass half full” attitude to life.
